All the laboratories described are fully suitable for carrying out the activities necessary for the development of the program's research lines. In addition to these, PPGCAT relies on the collaboration of the following laboratories: Bahia's Poultry Health Laboratory (LASAB), Animal Products Technology Laboratory (CARNE), the Animal Products Technology Laboratory (LEITE), the Centre Development of Livestock (CDP) and the Experimental Farms of the University: Entre Rios and São Gonçalo dos Campos.
Multimedia Resources/Computer Resources-Integrated into the program structure, a computer room was created, which is currently equipped with five microcomputer devices with excellent processing/storage ratio, Allowing students and professors to use high-capacity programs in data processing and consequent agility in the production of the results obtained in experiments. In view of this demand the UFBA provided for the use of professors, since 2014, the license of the statistical programS.A.S (StatisticalAnalysis System in version 9.4 for the Windows system).
Units in partnership with PPGCAT offer, to the program students, about 25 computers with free access to the network and these are distributed in the Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics School, Central Library of UFBA, Sciences of Health Institute and the Pharmacy School. In addition, the university in all its extension has Hotspot providing free internet via WiFi for any mobile device (cell phones, Tablets and Notebooks), which allows a wide possibility of access to information.
PPGCAT offers multimedia projectors connected to microcomputers and a sound system, which allows the use for classes with varying numbers of students. These rooms have an air conditioning system and university chairs upholstered with a scaleable clipboard that guarantee greater comfort to its users.
Internet/Intranet-in relation to Internet services, UFBA has the point of presence of the RNP (PoP-BA) that makes up the national network of Teaching and research whose main function is to meet the needs of the Internet system at academic level. For free access to the signatures of the main scientific journals in environments outside the UFBA network, the graduate program provides through the Superintendence of Information Technology (STI-UFBA) access to the Virtual Private Network (VPN) allowing greater convenience to the faculty and students. Another important factor is that from 2001 the entire network was restructured allowing the expansion of the access speed between the minimum of 34 Mbps and maximum of 622 Mbps. This change leads to the possibility of transmitting content in video, videoconferencing and webconferencing thus reduced the distance between research groups, defenses of theses/dissertations, courses and lectures.
Library Infrastructure-UFBA Central Library has 20 search terminals connected to the Integrated Libraries System (PERGAMUM) which allows you to make a wide consultation with the following parameters: title, author or subject; the entire sector, as well as the university campus has open Internet WiFi Network, also has several network points for notebook; The library has a study area with tables and chairs that allow for greater comfort to students, and if a more reserved location is needed, the library has individual cabins. To assist in the standardization of publications is offered consultancy service and verification of ABNT norms, as well as in the elaboration of the catalographic record. In the UFBA network and in the library it is possible to access the CAPES journal Portal and the other electronic bibliographic research systems available at UFBA (information Portal of UFBA-CONTINUE, Web of Science, Scielo, National Collective catalog of publications Seriadas, thesis database, among others). Through the ORTODOCS NETWORK, students have access to the entire collection of the UFBA sector libraries, distributed in their teaching units and supplementary organs. To obtain articles not covered by the CAPES Portal or other libraries, the students also count on the BIREME and COMUT systems. It is noteworthy the importance of other libraries used by students, available at the Collective Health Institute, Health Sciences Institute, Mathematics Institute, Faculty of Pharmacy, Research center Gonçalo Moniz-FIOCRUZ-BA and EBDA-BA.
Relevant information-UFBA implemented, in 2015, the digital content platform of Dot. Lib, which enables the reading of thousands of books and digital journals, in Portuguese, in the Health Sciences area (Editora Atheneu) and in the Science, Technology and Medicine area (Springer publishing House). This system allows access within the campus of UFBA, as well as outside the university through remote access. It is also important to highlight that from 2001 onwards, the Brazilian Journal of Health and Animal production (RBSPA) was created in digital format and can be accessed by the address www.rbspa.ufba.br. The RBSPA has a consistent editorial committee, presents different national and international indexers, and has Qualis B3 classification in Zootecnia and B4 in veterinary medicine.
